[4] It's Tuesday, April 16th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[5] Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg files a motion for Trump to be held in contempt as jury selection in the hush money trial continues today.
[6] Daily Wire's senior editor Cabot Phillips has more.
[7] Former President Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records in relation to a $130 ,000 hush money payment made to adult film actor Stormy Daniels.
[8] Trump denies that affair ever happened.
[9] Yesterday, 50 of 96 potential jurors dismissed themselves, saying they could not be unbiased in the trial.
[10] Others removed themselves for other reasons, with one dismissed juror telling NBC that her work schedule made it difficult to be a juror, though she says she would have done her best to be unbiased and fair.
[11] I guess when you're on any jury, you have elements of that person's future in your hands.
[12] So whether it was Trump or whether it was some stranger off the street in Manhattan, who I had never heard of before, if you commit to sitting on the jury, you can change that person's life forever.
[13] The Supreme Court ruled Monday to allow an Idaho law that protects children from life -altering transgender procedures to go into effect while it's being challenged in lower courts.
[14] DailyWire reporter Zach Jewell has the latest.
[15] The law was passed last year and prohibits giving puberty blockers and cross -sex hormones to children for so -called transgender treatment, and it bans procedures like double mastectomies on girls who identify as boys.

[17] The state's attorney general celebrated the ruling saying, quote, I've witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of drugs and procedures used on children with gender dysphoria.
[18] and it's a preventable tragedy.
[19] One year after the tragic mass shooting at a Nashville Christian school, a judge's hearing arguments today over whether to release the shooter's documents to the public.
[20] Daily Wire reporter Spencer Lindquist is at the courthouse and has more.
[21] The Davidson County Court held a hearing today over the release of documents from the Covenant School shooting.
[22] Lawyers representing five different parties who requested the documents through the Tennessee Public Records Act argued that there is no legitimate reason to withhold the documents.
[23] The lawyers argued that, though there is an ongoing investigation from law enforcement, the release of the documents would not impact their activities, as there are no living suspects in the case.
[24] A lawyer representing the Metro National Police Department stated that law enforcement expects to conclude the investigation by July 1st, also noting that they are looking into the potential that co -conspirators were involved.
[25] Once the investigation concludes, redacted documents are expected to be released.
[26] A different lawyer argued that large portions of the shooter's journal made to be redacted, as it could contain diagrams of the school or other material that could jeopardize the school's ongoing security.

[30] Republican Congressman Thomas Massey is joining Representative Marjorie Taylor Green in her efforts to oust speaker Mike Johnson.
[31] Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce reports.
[32] Massey's change of heart came after Speaker Johnson announced plans to bring separate foreign aid bills on Israel, Taiwan, and Ukraine to the floor.
[33] This puts Johnson's speakership in its most risky position since the Louisiana congressman took the gavel.
[34] Massey announced on social media that he was co -sponsoring Green's motion to vacate and said that Johnson should resign.
[35] Green for weeks has threatened to force a vote on Johnson's ouster over Ukraine aid, doubling down despite former President Trump backing the speaker.
[36] Johnson has recently come under fire from some within his own party due to his stance, on certain foreign policy issues.
[37] After he publicly called out NPR's left -wing political bias, veteran NPR editor Ori Berliner has been suspended by the news organization.
[38] Berliner recently penned an op -ed, detailing NPR's persistently left -leaning and pro -democrat agenda.
[39] He also appeared in an interview with former New York Times writer Barry Weiss in which he discussed the issue.
[40] For me, what's different about NPR is we are a public service institution.
[41] We have a public mission, and we have a show called All Things Considered.
[42] We have a fellowship called the Reflect America Fellowship.
[43] So I think we have a particular obligation to reflect America, to understand people from all different outlooks, to bring up things that might be uncomfortable for our progressive audience members, to be a little more daring, to take a little more chance, to be more curious about things that don't fit the narrative.
[44] Berliner's suspension comes amid heightened scrutiny on NPR's new CEO, Catherine Marr, who has repeatedly made clear that she holds radical left views on race, gender, and politics.
[45] Mar has disavowed what she calls, quote, whiteness and branded former President Trump, a, quote, deranged racist sociopath, among other politically loaded statements.
[46] President Biden told the House on Monday that he would not testify as part of a corruption -focused impeachment inquiry.

[49] She is set to join the Hudson Institute think tank.
[50] The DC -based group announced Monday that the former GOP presidential candidate is set to be the Walter P. Stern Chair at the Institute.
[51] Haley said in a statement, quote, When our policymakers fail to call out our enemies or acknowledge the importance of our alliances, the world is less safe.
[52] That's why Hudson's work is so critical.
[53] I look forward to partnering with them to defend the principles that make America the greatest country in the world.
