[3] I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Bickley.

[4] It's Friday, February 2nd, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.

[5] The European Union has agreed to a 50 billion euro or almost $54 billion fund for Ukraine to be used in their war with Russia.

[6] The fund consists of loans and grants that will be handed out over the next four years.

[7] The unanimous show of support for Ukraine comes after Hungary's Victor Orban was convinced to join his fellow European nations.

[8] Ukraine says the EU funds are critical to their economy, especially since U .S. aid is being debated in Congress.

[9] Orban asked for an additional review of how the money is being spent to safeguard against corruption.

[10] Details of the Senate Border Bill have yet to be released, but Kansas Senate, Senator Roger Marshall says Republicans seem torn on whether or not to support the bill.

[11] He believes a majority of the border problem could be solved if President Biden reinstated the remain -in -Mexico policy and fixed the asylum and parole issues.

[12] He told Morning Wire that the president could fix the border with a stroke of his pen.

[13] There's policies in place, laws in place.

[14] If he wanted to, he could secure the border.

[15] I've yet to hear out of his lips say, I want to secure the border.

[16] He has said he wants to grease the immigration system.

[17] So I'm a little bit leery of the person that we are trying to deal with right now.

[18] We have to fix asylum and we have to fix parole.

[19] Barack Obama paroled 5 ,000 people per year.

[20] 5 ,000.

[21] Joe Biden is prolling 700 ,000 people per year.

[22] He's breaking the law.

[23] The law clearly says for parole, they're supposed to be decided on an individual case -by -case basis.

[24] He's doing it 10 ,000 people at a time.

[25] But if we could fix parole, if we could fix asylum, Maybe we fix 70 % of the problem.

[26] The U .S. House overwhelmingly passed a bill calling for the deportation of illegal immigrants who are caught driving while intoxicated.

[27] The vote was 270 to 150, with 59 Democrats joining the Republican majority to oust the drunk drivers.

[28] 150 Democrats voted against the bill, including minority leader Hakeem Jeffries.

[29] Alabama Congressman Barry Moore introduced the bill after two of his constituents.

[30] were killed by an illegal immigrant in a car accident.

[31] We had a family in my hometown that lost the son and daughter -in -law to an illegal who was driving under the influence.

[32] And I think it had already been deported a couple of times.

[33] But when they don't have a driver's license, they don't have car insurance, there's no accountability in the process.

[34] And they just slap them on the wrist and send them on their way.

[35] And so this drunk driver who was here illegally killed a young couple.

[36] President Biden will visit East Palestine, Ohio this month, nearly a year after the devastating train derailment in the small Ohio town.

[37] Biden was widely criticized for not visiting the disaster site, especially because former President Trump did make a visit in the days following the Norfolk Southern train derailment, which released toxic chemicals into the environment.

[38] East Palestinian resident Russell Murphy says Biden is too late.

[39] Trump, he was here.

[40] Matter of fact, he brought water, he brought laundry detergent.

[41] we're actually still using some of it.

[42] You know, he stepped up.

[43] Biden, it's just going to be nothing but for his party.

[44] It's going to be photo ops.

[45] It's going to clog the town with traffic and the mess that's going to go with it.

[46] Even as Mayor Trent said, that there's just no, there's nothing that he can come here and do now.

[47] He missed it.

[48] Meanwhile, Norfolk Southern has agreed to be the first class one train operator to participate in a new federal system which allows employees to report safety problems without fear of reprisal.

[49] All of this is happening as an investor group has made a $1 billion investment in Norfolk Southern and is trying to oust the company's CEO.

[50] Elon Musk is considering reincorporating Tesla in Texas where the company is headquartered.

[51] Currently, Tesla is incorporated in Delaware where a judge this week rejected Musk's $56 billion compensation package saying he hadn't properly justified the pay.

[52] Asked by Musk on X whether the EB company should reincorporate in Texas, 87 % voted Tesla should make the move.

[53] Now the Tesla shareholders will weigh in.

[54] Delaware is considered the number one state for business.

[55] 68 % of Fortune 500 companies are incorporated there due to their friendly business practices.

[56] One billion TikTok users may remember this as The Week the Music Died, as songs from Taylor Swift, Drake, U2, Adele, and Ariana Grande have been pulled from the platform.

[57] Universal Music Group removed the artist's songs from TikTok after the two were unable to reach a deal on compensation.

[58] In a statement, Universal Music Group said, ultimately TikTok is trying to build a music -based business without paying fair value for the music.

[59] TikTok fired back and issued their own statement saying UMG's greed caused them to be unable to reach a deal, which hurts their artists.

[60] Music journalist Lars Brandl summed up the battle of the two behemoths.

[61] The two press releases that came out were bruising.

[62] And I don't think I've seen anything like it.

[63] from a company in the music industry.

[64] And the argument is essentially about money.

[65] It's about the royalties that TikTok pays for the use of universal music.

[66] These arguments happen often behind closed doors, but this argument has stepped out of those closed doors and into the public domain.

[67] It's spicier than any beef in hip -hop right now.

[68] The last time a similar music dispute occurred was in 2008 when Warner Music removed their titles from YouTube.

[69] The standoff lasted nine months.

[70] All right, those are your drive -home updates this afternoon.
