[4] It's Tuesday, November 21st, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[5] Today and tomorrow will likely be the busiest travel days of the year.
[6] AAA expects there will be more than 49 million people on the roads driving more than 50 miles from home.
[7] The skies will also be full.
[8] 4 .7 million people are expected to fly over the Thanksgiving holiday week.
[9] That would be an all -time record in the U .S. Travel will be hampered by some winter weather.
[10] Parts of the southeast were hit by high winds and tornadoes on Monday, and the northeast is expecting rain and snow tonight.
[11] Still, travelers will not be deterred from Thanksgiving or Christmas travel, especially since airline costs have come down.
[12] The three most popular destinations are New York, Orlando, and Los Angeles.
[13] A federal appeals court has ruled that only the U .S. Attorney General can bring cases using Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.
[14] Before the 2 -1 decision, private citizens and civil rights groups like the ACLU or the NWACP could sue to challenge ballot access, voting rules, and redistricting based on race.
[15] The decision by the Eighth Circuit Court only affects the seven states under its jurisdiction.
[16] Those are Arkansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
[17] Critics say the decision guts the Voting Rights Act and will likely make its way to the Supreme Court.
[18] Here's the University of Baltimore law professor Kim Way -Lee.
[19] On the one hand, it's a technical sort of textualist reading saying only the Justice Department can bring these cases.
[20] But on the other hand, it just ignores decades of precedent, including out of the United States Supreme Court.
[21] But it does also put pressure on the Department of Justice to start bringing more cases.
[22] And they just arguably don't bring it up.
[23] Home sales fell again in October to a 13 -year low.
[24] Month over month, sales fell 4 .1 % and were down a whopping 14 .6 % year -over year.
[25] High interest rates and high home prices seem to be the biggest factors for the decrease in sales.
[26] The average 30 -year mortgage rate is at 8%, and the median home price is at $392 ,000.
[27] Fewer home sales are also leading to a decrease in appliance sales, which is hurting big box stores like Best Buy, Home Depot, and lows, which all cut their sales forecasts heading into the holiday season.

[36] The suit claims that the organization Media Matters for America manipulated data and, and the usage of the algorithm to make it appear as if racist content was frequently appearing next to major advertisers.
