Morning Wire XX
[0] I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Bickley.
[1] It's Friday, October 27th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[2] Canada's Border Services Agency is on high alert over fear that the man who went on a shooting spree in Lewiston, Maine, will attempt to cross over.
[3] Authorities in Maine scoured hundreds of acres of property today that may have some significance to suspected shooter Robert Card.
[4] Dive teams were sent to the bottom of a location on a river where Card supposedly kept a boat.
[5] But nearly two days after the shooting, state law enforcement officials did not reveal whether they had any leads on his location.
[6] Here's Maine Public Safety Commissioner Mike Sotchuk.
[7] We're going to be all over the place.
[8] That's not saying that we know that the individual is in this house or we know the individual is in that house or they're in that swath of land.
[9] That's not what we're doing.
[10] But we do look at all these situations as if the individual could be in there.
[11] According to multiple reports, law enforcement did recover a note from the suspect.
[12] It essentially said that he did not expect to be alive when it was found.
[13] This all comes after police say a man fatally shot 18 people and wounded 13 more at a bowling alley and bar in Lewiston, Maine.
[14] President Biden's name will be absent from the ballot in New Hampshire's first in the nation, 2024 primary.
[15] Biden's campaign confirmed that the president will opt to skip the contest that the state is defiantly holding after a revamp primary order pushed by the White House.
[16] In a letter to the New Hampshire Democratic primary chair, Biden's campaign manager said, quote, while the president wishes to participate in the primary, he is obligated to comply with the party rules.
[17] Last year, President Biden urged the Democratic National Convention to shake up the order of the 2024 primary.
[18] Biden wanted to replace Iowa's caucus with South Carolina's primary.
[19] The DNC approved the new calendar in February, but the New Hampshire's Secretary of State is holding strong.
[20] I think they'll continue to pose challenges.
[21] until they get tired and give up.
[22] We won't.
[23] The Israel Defense Forces say they are expanding their ground operation into Gaza following aerial attacks that targeted Hamas tunnels.
[24] Sources in Gaza tell Fox News that mobile comm systems have collapsed in the area, making communication among civilians nearly impossible.
[25] Meanwhile, a Palestinian Internet company tells the AP that Internet service has also been cut off due to bombings, while other sources say most cell towers have been knocked down in the territory.
[26] This comes as Israeli forces have been conducting brief incursions into Gaza over the past few days in preparation for a full -scale invasion to eradicate Moss.
[27] Israel's defense minister told journalists today that it's not a matter of if they invade the region, but when.
[28] Iranian foreign minister, Hussein Amir Abdalachian, threatened the U .S. Thursday if it continues to manage what he called the genocide in Palestine.
[29] The minister said, quote, the U .S. would not be spared.
[30] He continued by saying his country does not compromise with any party or side and does not have reservations when it comes to its national security.
[31] He then directed his message directly to President Biden.
[32] Mr. President, I have been three weeks that we have been witness to the war crimes and genocide of the occupying Israeli regime in Gaza and the West Bank of Palestine.
[33] The United States and several European countries have sided with the occupying regime of Israel.
[34] By war, if the genocide in Gaza continues, they will not be spared from this fire.
[35] Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says he's sending drones, weapons, and ammunition to Israel as the country prepares for its ground invasion into Gaza.
[36] The governor's office said it acted at the request of Israel's consul general, in Miami, though the consul general said he did not talk to the governor about sending weapons or ammunition through private parties.
[37] The Biden administration had the following reaction.
[38] It is not illegal for the governor of a state to offer a measure of foreign assistance to another country.
[39] There are laws and regulations which govern how the export process is handled, and that's all done through commerce.
[40] I couldn't speak with authority today about whether the governor has checked all those boxes or not.
[41] You really should charge.
[42] talk to him and his staff, but it's not illegal for state governor to do that kind of thing.
[43] Earlier this week, Governor DeSantis ordered state universities to disband chapters of a pro -Palestinian student group.
[44] Since the Hamas attack on October 7th, Florida has also run flights to evacuate some 700 Americans from Israel.
[45] A federal judge ruled Thursday that parts of Georgia's congressional, state senate, and state house district maps are racially discriminatory and ordered the state to draw an additional black majority congressional district.
[46] U .S. District Judge Steve Jones also ordered the state to draw two new black majority districts in Georgia's 56 member state senate and five new majority black districts in the 180 member statehouse.
[47] The ruling follows a trial last month in which those for change argued that black voters are still fighting opposition from white voters and need federal intervention.
[48] Meanwhile, the state argued court intervention wasn't needed.
[49] All right.
